How to Download a YouTube Thumbnail on Android
Download YouTube thumbnails on Android phones with a free web tool, Chrome, or direct thumbnail URLs.
Updated July 21, 2026
Android makes saving CDN images easier than iOS in some cases, but copying links from the YouTube app still takes a deliberate path.
Method 1: YouThumbnail downloader
- Tap Share on the video → Copy link.
- Open Chrome and visit the YouTube Thumbnail Downloader.
- Paste, fetch, and download the resolution you need.
Files land in Downloads unless you choose Photos.
Method 2: Chrome direct save
- Open
https://img.youtube.com/vi/VIDEO_ID/maxresdefault.jpg. - Long-press the image.
- Tap Download image.
Method 3: Samsung Internet or Firefox
Same long-press download works on most Android browsers when viewing the raw JPG.
Storage and quality
Check file dimensions after download. If width is below 640 px, the channel may not have uploaded a high-res custom thumbnail.

FAQ
Does the YouTube Android app let me save thumbnails?
Not directly. Copy the video link and use a downloader or direct JPG URL in Chrome.
